Prone
The prone position (lying on one’s front) allows remarkably accurate shooting with open (non-telescopic) sights. A jacket and sling are used to help support the weight of the rifle which means that physical strength is not a prerequisite to achieving high scores but correct technique is everything!
Prone rifles are almost always single-shot bolt-action designs, with either a traditional wooden stock or a more modern adjustable aluminium stock.
We compete throughout the year, and with a wide range of local leagues and handicap tournaments available to enter, all abilities are catered for.
The club has a number of different rifles and jackets to suit a range of sizes, so beginners can learn the basics without having to commit to buying their own equipment at the outset.
